Meet Stephen & Mary Halko-Sheehan

Stephen & Mary Halko-Sheehan

The MCRCO rib cook-off was initiated by Stephen Halko-Sheehan and his wife, Mary, driven by a desire to support the North Community Church Adult Mission and contribute to the community. In the early stages, they both assumed multiple responsibilities: Mary coordinated volunteers and solicited donations from local businesses, while Stephen tirelessly recruited teams to participate in the event.

Despite the event’s expansion and the evolution of volunteer participation, Mary and Stephen continue to play indispensable roles. Stephen now serves as the president of the organization, overseeing a dedicated board responsible for orchestrating the rib cook-off. Meanwhile, Mary remains deeply involved, tirelessly promoting the event throughout the year with unparalleled enthusiasm.

Thanks to their unwavering dedication, what began as a modest gathering in the North Community Church parking lot has blossomed into a premier occasion on the south shore, now hosted at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

2025 marks the 17th Annual MCRCO Event!  There are so many ways to get involved:

We are incredibly grateful for the time, talents, and financial support of our teams, sponsors, volunteers, rib-lovers and the Marshfield community-at-large.

Our Mission

The Marshfield Community Rib Cook-Off mission is to raise funds and awareness in support of critical community initiatives serving at-risk youth and their families with a focus on economic hardship, homelessness, and food insecurity.
